On many occasions, you will need to know the ID of a page or post. A good example of needing page or post ids can be found when using the Google XML Sitemaps plugin. If you need to exclude certain specific pages from your site map, the plugin uses the page ids when selecting pages to exclude.
WordPress does not provide page and post id information by default so it can be a pain looking through the SQL database containing pages and posts to get the ID. Fortunately, there is a plug-in available to add the ID to page and post lists.
On the WordPress plugins page search for “Simply Show IDs”.
Tell WordPress to install the plugin, activate it, and the IDs will be displayed.
A useful little tool.
